Carolina PE? While it has been over 12 years since UNC-Chapel Hill dropped their physical education teacher education program, we have received a great deal of interest from the alumni who graduated from this fine institution. — Artie
Here are a few responses:
On Ron Hyatt:
I loved Ron because he reminded me of how Carolina made me a successful teacher…I loved it when I saw him lead a Processional for Graduation or University Day…PE was out in the front reminding others of how much we made a difference… — Betsy Beals
Dr. Hyatt taught me to ALWAYS be…” O.T.O.T” translated means “On Time, On Target and ready for the Kick-Off” That has served me well :0) — Katie Caggia
I KNEW RON HYATT AS A PROFESSOR AT ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN COLLEGE (BARTON COLLEGE). HE WAS AN OUTSTANDING TEACHER THEN AND I FOLLOWED HIM TO CHAPEL HILL TO GET MY M.A.T. IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION. I HAVE THAT SAME PROBLEM OF O.T.O.T.. BEING TAUGHT AND KNOWING DR. RONALD HYATT HAS MADE ME A BETTER MAN AND A GOOD P.E. TEACHER. — Andrew Hoyt BorlandI happen to be going through my email and noticed your Facebook. I’m a former Carolina PE professional (MAT ’76) ahead of you by just a few years. What caught my attention was the mention of the late Dr. Ron Hyatt… “zip zip zip” (zest, interest, and participation). I’ll never forget it in taking his Intramural class. Somewhere around the house in one of my photo albums, I have a photo of those of us in the Class of ’76 (Masters program in 1975 – 1976). When I find it, I’ll forward it on to you. — Obadiah J.K. Simmons, Jr., PhD; Grambling State University
